Materials laboratory is one of the laboratories that focuses on learning and testing the properties of materials (materials). Tests on a material are very important in order to know the characteristics and properties of a material so that it can be used further in various fields of industry, technology and other purposes. Materials laboratories in general play a role in supporting students to be able to explore knowledge about material science theories that have been obtained in the lecture process through practical activities, tests, and other practical activities. In addition, the material laboratory is also a research place for students to conduct research and publish it
Formally, one of the activities carried out by the Materials Laboratory in lectures is through practicum activities which are mandatory for all students. This practicum activity aims to help students to implement material science that has been obtained previously and to see firsthand the phenomena and tests carried out on a material so that it can be useful for students in the future.
The materials laboratory has several equipment and facilities to support learning and practicum activities. Some of the equipment owned by the Materials Laboratory are Tensile Testing Machines, Hardness Testing Machines, Impact Testing Machines, Microscopes, and other supporting tools.
