Three Engineering Faculty Students Represent UNIB at the 32nd PIMNAS in Bali

A team consisting of three students from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNIB, will represent Bengkulu Province at the 32nd National Student Science Week (PIMPNAS) which will be held by the Director General of Belmawa Kemenristekdikti in collaboration with Udayana University, August 27-31 2019, at the Udayana University Campus Jimbaran Hill, Bali.

The three Engineering Faculty students are Syaiful Ghozali (class of 2018) as team leader, Sofyan Safari (2016) and Febriansyah (2016) as members. This team will take part in the PKM-KC (Student Creativity Program – Karsa Cipta) with the Program Title “Pelasterin Depentol” which is an Injection Molding Temperature Control Integrated Plastic Chopping Machine.

With this “Pelasterin Depentol”, the three students produced a machine for processing plastic waste into boards or blocks to reduce tree-cutting activities and stop environmental pollution due to plastic waste.

The idea of making this appropriate technology departs from the phenomenon that there is still a lot of accumulation of plastic waste and cutting down of trees which can cause disaster for living things. With the “Pelasterin Depentol” tool, you can chop plastic and print plastic board and plastic block products that are worth selling.

This tool consists of several important parts, including an iron frame, an electric motor equipped with a control panel, heater, actuator, chopping chamber, and pressure lever. The work of this tool can replace wooden boards, wooden beams or logs for building materials. Then it can also be a floor coating or a substitute for wall tiles.

In general, it can be concluded that the Depentol Pelasterin Tool was produced by three students from the Faculty of Engineering, UNIB, who were supervised by Dr. Eng. Hendra, ST, MT is the first step in innovating a plastic waste management system to become an environmentally friendly system and produce valuable products.
